Mount St Marys College earns Sears-Roebuck Teaching Award

Mount St Marys College at Emmitsburg has been chosen by the Sears Roebuck Foundation to join its 1990 91 Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award program. Dr John W Campbell provost notes the Mount focuses on strong teaching serving students while the foundation provides a 1000 grant to each winner and additional college funds to promote campus leadership and teaching. Dr Sue Helder Goliber, inaugural Mount recipient, says public recognition helps counter the view that colleges prioritize research over teaching. The program is run by the Foundation for Independent Higher Education and the Independent College Fund of Maryland and administered nationally and regionally.
