Delaware phone bills to increase by 17 percent temporarily
Diamond State Telephone Co. will raise home and business rates under a state law allowing interim increases while the Public Service Commission reviews a $25.8 million rate request. Residential bills rise 17 percent, business rates 10 percent, and special private lines costs more than double. The higher charges, expected to last months, would bring about $13.7 million for the company if kept. Diamond State will refund any overcollected amount if final rates differ.
