Four MCEA officials defect to rival AFSCME in budget crisis

Four Maryland Classified Employees Association leaders switch to AFSCME Council 92 claiming MCEA cannot adequately represent members during a deep budget crisis. The defectors say AFSCME offers superior financial and political strength to mobilize about 20,000 state workers versus MCEA's 10,000. They cite missed rally promotion and insufficient collective bargaining drive as key failings. Janet Anderson defends MCEA's stance and approach.
