Jet powered speedboat aims for 300 mph
New York report on Seattle designer Ted Jones at the National Motor Boat Show describes trials to solve two key problems in speedboat design. He plans a jet powered craft riding on a deep rear wedge with stability from its shape and a cockpit cover to prevent the suction effect at high speeds. Jones, who built 14 unlimited class hydroplanes, hopes the craft will avoid taking off or sucking the driver out, while the aluminum bottom floats above water at speed.

Free Substitution Rule Is Desired
CHAMPAIGN TI APY The NCAA Kanthal Depe Mamta spurned the free substitution rule for 3959 although 79 per cent of the nations coaches favored it. Coach Ray Eliot of Minors reported Fridays Eliot, member of an NCAA sub committee on rules changes, said he conducted a poll of members of the American Football Coaches Ace. He said he gave the committee the results of the poll. The Committee last weekend liberalized the substitution rule, permitting one player to re-enter a game as many times as his coach pleases when the clock is stopped, but other players, as in 1958, cannot re-enter a game more than twice during a half without penalty.
