Treasury chief warns of depression risk and budget cuts
Secretary Humphrey warned of a depression if spending is not cut, saying he would resign if deficit financing began. He urged Congress to reduce the 71.8 million budget for the new fiscal year and defended the administration while contrasting views on tax cuts and spending. He spoke at a budget seminar as the budget went to Congress.
