New Road To Skirt Baltimore Expressway Planned
Maryland advances toward a southwest to northeast expressway bypassing downtown Baltimore. The State Roads Commission hired three consulting firms to map a 30 mile multi million dollar route from the Baltimore Washington expressway to U S 40 northeast of the city. The first five mile section north of the city should start by year end, linking with the Harrisburg expressway southward extension. Baltimore County will pay 25 000 per mile and match federal funds for five years, including 5 000 for engineers fees.

Suspended term enforced for assault on wife in Broad Run

Magistrate Shoemaker will test the Brandenburg car’s speedometer in a pending case regarding speeding up to 70 mph, with Brandenburg contending engine and speedometer issues. Edwin F. Nikirk represented the Brandenburgs. Wilbur O. Kline pleaded guilty to intoxication on a bus and received a suspended 30 days if he leaves town. Kline was arrested at the bus station by Sgt. Swomley. Lyle E. Mathews of Baltimore forfeited $10 collateral on improper passing. Trooper Crowther filed the charge.

Reds Charge New Bombing Near Kaesong
In Munsan Korea on January 17 the Communists claimed an allied plane dropped a bomb in the neutral zone near Kaesong. U N investigators were shown a hillside crater eight feet deep and about 25 feet wide. Six Koreans from a nearby village testified they heard planes before the blast. Marine Col. James C. Murray examined the crater and said there was an explosion. Investigators, both U N and Communist, were quiet and friendly. the Reds reported no damage.
