Mayor Ronald N. Young announced a park and shop system for a proposed city parking deck to have merchants stamp shopper tickets signifying they will cover parking costs. The plan aims to counter suburban malls while cautioning against on street concessions.
Sen Charles McC Mathias Jr says he is expediting the slow traffic study and will brief the mayor and public soon. He has spoken with Philadelphia federal highway officials, noting the state highway administration has delayed the project by three to four months.
