Bibles For The Poor Report Of The Bible Society
The seventy third annual report of the Young Men's Bible Society of Frederick County Maryland is presented by Jacob Rohrback. It covers 1893 activities including colportage by John A Reich and Rev John S White. Reich travelled from Brunswick to Point of Rocks while White labored in Frederick City. 27 destitute families were found, 24 Bibles and 50 Testaments sold, 15 Bibles and 7 Testaments given away, with 6 combined Testaments and Psalms. The depository reported 462 books valued at 10.35, 26 more added, total 488 valued at 117.85, 24 volumes given away, 120 volumes distributed by collporteurs, and a cash inflow of 26.41 from sales. The treasury shows balances and donations from officers and subscribers, with expenses for gas, fuel, and depository fees. The report places the society within the wider American Bible Society, noting large national circulation and advocacy for gospel distribution.
