Maryland sees modest economic upturn amid pockets of unemployment
Maryland Department of Economic and Community Development reports a mixed year with improved overall economy in 1975, lower unemployment than the nation but sharp pockets in Baltimore City and other regions. Inflation similar to the U.S., slower home ownership cost rise, and modest housing construction recovery aided by increased federally insured loan activity. Projections for 1976 warn of sluggish growth, ongoing inflation, and potential depletion of unemployment funds without corrective steps.
