Fire originating on the building second floor over Modern Shop and Taylor Music caused smoke and water damage to the first floor shops. Police officer Bruste discovered the blaze at 4:15 am. all four local brigades fought flames for about an hour and a half, with extensive ductwork and glass doors damaged. Residents Mary Evans and Blanche Vaughan evacuated with few belongings as crews limited spread. Insurance estimates pending. no total loss yet.
