Students vow to fight cuts in performing arts program
County students in the Visual and Performing Arts magnet program rally against potential 1996 budget cuts. At Gov Thomas Johnson High School and across the county 85 students, parents, and teachers plan to attend a January 23 Board of Education budget hearing to defend VPA, a nine year old program offering visual arts music and theater. The protest coincides with a county funding outlook that may lag last year by several million dollars threatening VPA and other programs.
