Frederick County Promoted With AA Moody Rating
Frederick CountyCommissioner Delbert Null announced the county earned a top AA Moody rating, noting one of the lowest bond debts in Maryland. The rating boosts county bond appeal and could lower interest costs as bonds are assessed by Moody’s on Wall Street. Local driver Herbert H. Thomas, 30, of Carver Apartments, endured minor injuries after his car rolled over on Maryland Route 14 near New Market. He was treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital and released. State Police investigation indicated mechanical failure during westbound travel, a vehicle assist, and guard rails were involved in the rollover incident.

Nixon Replies On Missile Lead To Symington Challenge
Vice President Richard Nixon told Senate associates that the United States now leads in overall military power and will stay ahead in coming years. Senator Stuart Symington pressed for exact ICBM counts this year and warned the Soviet gap could force unwelcome settlements. Nixon noted U.S. late start in missile production but cited faster progress than experts expect, while Symington accused Eisenhower officials of glossing defense shortcomings. He noted Congress funded Minuteman work last year, but no funds remained for this year.
