Mountain Sleet Disrupts Mountain Roads and Telephone Service
Light sleet and dropping temperatures slowed travel in the mountains as cinder trucks cleared icy state and county roads. Ten State Roads trucks aided Middletown valley Braddock and South mountains with additional crews near Fayville and Myersville while Fredrick area remained largely clear. Telephone service suffered with over 1,000 stations out during the storm though repairs progressed toward permanent fixes in the following days. Forecasters warned of lingering flurries and chilly conditions with temperatures dipping to the upper twenties tonight.
