Family asks town to help stop drugs
A New Market family urged the town to curb drug activity by pressuring police and officials after years of incidents at a neighbor’s historic district home. Yomas Mansell and his 19 year old daughter Kelly delivered a three page letter to Mayor and Town Council, detailing threats and perceived inaction. Council members pledged to draft a letter supporting action, as residents fear for their safety and have requested resident deputies or help from state authorities. The discussion highlighted ongoing tensions with local law enforcement and county investigators amid a drug haven reputation near the Mansell residence.
