Hunting Creek Dam Endorsed By Maryland Board
ANNAPOLIS AP The State Board of Natural Resources voted Monday with some dissent to support plans by the Department of Forests and Parks to build a 54 acre impoundment across Hunting Creek near Thurmont. The decision came after a lengthy meeting with opponents citing ecological concerns while proponents argued the dam serves greater public recreation needs. The board agreed to draft a message to the Department of Water Resources, which has final say, though its action is not binding on the department head.

Cooper-Hughes Tax Plan To Take Bigger Tax Bite
The 1987 Cooper-Hughes tax reform plans to raise rates in higher brackets. A 10 member committee led by Sen. Harry R Hughes considers extending the graduated tax to about 12,000 income or widening bracket gaps.
