Henryton Project Would Save State Money CAS Told
Henryton tubercular hospital near Sykesville could become a maximum security school for aggressive boys over 16 to save about three million dollars in new construction. Robert H. Hildreth proposed reconverting the Henryton facility at one tenth the cost to provide a nonadult-prison placement for older youths, with current plans separating ages 13 to 15 at the Maryland Training School. He noted integration and juvenile-age discrepancies across Baltimore and county lines, plus overcrowding reducing sentences to eight months.
