Hall of Fame Debate Highlights Football Shrine Ideas
The piece discusses locations for a football Hall of Fame with Latrobe and Cazenovia cited as options near Cooperstown. Dr. L H Baker argues for a metropolitan site with an information bureau and clinics, contrasting with baseball’s shrine and praising an amateur hall connected to Yale Field. It also notes the January 18 AMVETS basketball game cancellation and upcoming Sioux Indians matchup.

Racehorses and Awards Highlight 1948 Thoroughbred Season
The article notes many horses drawn to the Jamestown Mayville waterway area amid awards for top performers. $25,000 closing day is set for next Thursday with contenders for $50,000 Widener and $25,000 McLennan at Hialeah and $100,000 San Anita on the west coast. Armed, once horse of the year candidate in 1945 and 1947, shows aging signs and may race fewer events in 1948. Trainer Jones cites the seven year old as a limiting factor and a possible decline from his peak in 1945.
