Good Samaritans Reach 100 Members at Hospital Group

Frederick Memorial Hospital celebrates reaching 100 members in the Order of the Good Samaritans at a Ceresville Mansion ceremony. Members pledge 10 000 over 10 years to support the Equation for Progress fund totaling 22 million for three years including an $8.5 million outpatient Radiology Imaging Center at Rose Hill Plaza.

Catoctin Zoo Recycles Christmas Trees for Enrichment

Catoctin Mountain Zoo Park Thurmont will recycle Christmas trees through January 31. Smaller animals use the trees for perching and climbing while larger animals enjoy playing with them and sharpening claws. Once no longer usable, trunks are ground or composted for zoo landscape beds. Ornamentation must be removed and trees without artificial snow, fire retardant, or tinsel accepted. Drop off at the room's iron gate emergency entrance until Jan 31. For details call 662-2579 between 10 am and 4 pm.
