New Chemical Offers Hope In Arthritis
Washington AP a group of prostaglandins may offer hope for arthritis treatment through blocking enzymes from white blood cells. New York University doctors Zurer and Weissmann reported at an American Rheumatism Association meeting that human use is about ten years away. The research outlines three possibilities and cautions many factors must be solved before human trials. The scientists noted the wide proposed applications of prostaglandins include birth control, abortion, labor induction, ulcers, blood pressure, asthma, emphysema and nasal congestion.

At least six Soviet cargo ships have delivered jet fighters and other military hardware to Egypt and Syria within the last 1 days, according to Pentagon sources. The ships carried about 20 crated aircraft including MIG21s SU7 and helicopters, plus spare parts. Cargo was unloaded at Latakia in Syria and Alexandria in Egypt, with the Molodogvardsk masking its destination before anchoring at Alexandria on December 31. The United States says it closely monitors Soviet arms shipments to Arab states, notably Egypt.
