The Frederick Optimist and Opti-Mrs. Club announce a musical variety show called Holiday Ahoy on January 24-25 at the ship Holiday dockside under Captain Chris Carver. Twenty four teens as chorus girls perform with new satin and taffeta costumes. a scene titled Operation Diaper features war babies arriving in the United States. Miss Marion Hayden will train with the clubs for tryouts and rehearsals. A baby contest will run with Mrs. Victor S. Palmer as chair.

Three Frederick men were rescued from Little Knots Island in the Potomac River by Charles Town locals after their boat overturned in rough water near Shepherdstown. The trio, found in two feet of water, survived with one shotgun signaling for help. Marshall Orndorff and Charles Peer transported them by rowboat, while Clark Farr of the Independent Fire Company directed the rescue. the men suffered no injuries.

Gov McKeldin seeks 28 million new revenue via 2 to 3 percent sales and income tax changes with withholding starting July 1.
Budget preparations for next year show recommended appropriations between two and three million dollars, with McKeldin predicting an additional 17 to 18 million. Budget ready by January 25. Delegates left after Meheidin outlined tax ideas. senators returned Thursday with seven bills, including a likely provocation to repeal self control over University of Maryland operations granted in 1934. Senator Kimble argues the regents refused release of an evaluation report, claiming abuse of the power.
