Farmers Study Reveals Family Living Costs Across States
A federal survey by the Department of Agriculture finds average annual farm family living expenses around 1 1/2 to 2 thousand dollars with food accounting for 41.9 percent and clothing about 12.5 percent. The study, conducted 1922–1924, covered state variations from New Hampshire to Oregon and used homemaker interviews to detail expenses.
