The Manufacturers' Record will publish tomorrow a list of all manufacturing and mining enterprises organized in the Southern States in 1884. It shows 1865 new enterprises with capital totaling 105,269,500 dollars, with Maryland North Carolina Virginia and West Virginia leading in new capital and many industries represented. In Patine January 7 the wife of Sergeant George Sessinger of the Twentieth Pulse has learned that one of the heirs to a large English fortune is valued at 1,000,000 pounds or more. Two heirs, John J and Thomas Siattesiv, will sail for England from this port on the 15th.
The Evening Star reports that Congress considered House bill 7489 to deem preexisting District of Columbia contracts, mainly road and sewer works, valid without prior appropriation, potentially saddling the District with 35 to 60 million dollars in liabilities.
