Lawmakers pressed for detox center in Frederick County
Frederick County mental health advocates urged state lawmakers at a legislative breakfast to restore detox services at Frederick Memorial Hospital which stopped detox care in 1990 leaving residents to seek treatment in Washington or Baltimore. They argued a local detox center would reduce duplicated services and support parity in mental health insurance. They also pressed to remove a waiver that lets insurers dodge full mental health coverage and urged compliance with federal child abuse regulations to secure federal grant money.
