Hazardous driving warnings issued as light rain froze on roads turning the Frederick area into an icy skating rink. Within a half hour at about 10 am numerous accidents occurred along major roads. Several ambulances carried injured to hospital. no serious injuries reported. Bridges were especially hazardous and tow trucks hauled away disabled vehicles. State police increased patrols to assist stranded motorists as temperatures hovered around freezing and subfreezing air moved into the region.
