Francis Brengle spoke on Friendship Love and Truth and the group enjoyed a fine collation before returning home at eleven.

A new curiosity at the Skids museum features a petrified sponge large around 56 inches, felled from Mt Alto in Pennsylvania. The lump of iron ore and earth now shows a sponge-like form, weighed down to about three pounds, its origin and transformation puzzling visitors.

Joe Meyer, a Regenour's clothier on North Market street, launches advertising with two gilt 20x80 frames. One features a self portrait and business synopsis funded by Henry F. Scknock and W. A. Burger provided the photo, with lettering by Henry R. Lampe. Plans place frames at City Hotel and Carlin House to lure customers to his low price clothing boots and shoes at the old stand.

Fire Damp Explosion at Oxford Colliery Scranton Pa

An explosion of fire damp at the Oxford colliery of the Delaware Lackawanna and Western in Hyde Park Scranton occurred Thursday afternoon tearing out hoisting and air shafts and isolating fourteen men. Within an hour rescuers found all alive. three seriously burned with one possibly fatally injured others injured. Cause of the blast is unknown.

Buried services held for William Garfield Six age two years and over three months on Mt Olivet Cemetery with Rev Osborne Ingle officiating undertakers P and A Rice. David J L Staley died Saturday at Brook Hill age 62 years 6 months 23 days buried at Mt Olivet with Dr Bachbach of Reformed Church conducting service. Mrs Elton Ricketts died Saturday at West South Street residence of consumption and was buried this afternoon with Rev A M Evers officiating.
