Barnes Dance Walk Lights and jaywalking policy debated
Henry Barnes Baltimore traffic chief mulls a 2 to 5 dollar jaywalking fine but no action until Barttes Dance signals installed in Maryland metros. Fredericktown residents know Walk Lights, already authorized by the Mayor, would slow vehicles to protect pedestrians. Electronic brain systems could optimize green time by traffic density at College Avenue intersections. Parking meter receipts for 1955 show fewer meters and rising lot earnings, while a colonial campus building description follows.

Ordered To Drop Two Pepco Suits
Montgomery County Attorney Charles M. Irelan was ordered to drop two lawsuits in Circuit Court against Potomac Electric Power Co. One suit appeals a Maryland Public Service Commission ruling about PEPCO using any franchise in the county. The other stems from PEPCO’s refusal to sign a renewal with a $381,000 yearly payment. The county council had revoked a renewal offer and pressed for PEPCO’s renewal amid plans for a $100 million power plant.
