Acquittals in Drunk Driving and Local Offenses
Joseph Linthicum of Ijamssville and two other drivers were acquitted on charges of driving in excess of the limit on Route 40 A after testimony showed they were not speeding. A jail term was given to Charles F. Roberts for loitering, and other offenders received short sentences for drunkenness. A fatal fire in Phoenixville claimed six lives when a kerosene stove caused a blaze in a two story home. In Annapolis a Garrett county State Senator seat was filled by Neil C Fraley succeeding his ill health brother Lawrence Fraley.
