Potomac Edison to raise bills for fuel costs and declines

Potomac Edison customers will see higher charges on bills dated on or after January 6. The two part rate hike to recoup fuel costs and declining sales was negotiated with the Maryland Public Service Commission. The average monthly bill will rise by 1.85 dollars to 69.06, with 1.02 dollars from the fuel cost and 0.83 from declining sales.

Woman killed in collision with Laytonsville fire truck

A 55-year-old Damascus woman, Margaret Ann Moore, died after her Toyota Camry collided head on with a laytonsville fire department pumper on Md 108 near Dorsey Road during a snowstorm. Four firefighters were treated and released for injuries. Investigators said Moore was traveling too fast for conditions and both vehicles showed safety belt use issues.
