Iraqi peaceworker recalls unalarmed Iraqis amid crisis
Bill Keim of Sandy Spring Friends School returned from a peacemaking delegation to Iraq saying residents appeared resolved and not distressed by war. He noted Iraqi openness to talk, access to VOA and BBC, and stressed pursuit of a peaceful settlement as the United States weighs Kuwait withdrawal. The 12 member team met officials and the Red Crescent Society, delivered medications, and described strong desire for nonviolent end to the crisis. A Jan 12 teach-in at the Church of the Brethren will feature Keim discussing the trip.
