Consumer officials sue Rockville buying service
Consumer officials filed suit against Consumer Central and Group Financial Corp. and officers Marvin S. Yoder and John M. McQueary for taking money for merchandise not delivered or returned. The firm, also known as Associated Distributors, operated from 15 W. Montgomery Ave. Deliveries were promised in two to four weeks but often never occurred. The suit seeks a permanent injunction, repayment of funds, and civil penalties under the county Consumer Protection Law. Barbara B. Gregg cautioned buyers that memberships raise item costs and urged shopping at local retailers with Maryland implied warranty protections.
