Sioux Agency Lands Agreement Reported at Poplar River
A Montana dispatch says commissioners Wright Larabee and Daniela reached terms with Sioux leaders at Wort Peck agency. The agreement transfers land rights to a Missouri river boundary around 1,500,000 acres to the government for a $1,650,000 reserve, with annual payments of $165,000 for ten years. The Sioux gain fuel wood rights on the Missouri’s south bank opposite the reserve and the boundary follows the Big Muddy to above its mouth. Mrs Logan’s Chicago trip to handle burial arrangements and probate for her husband’s Illinois assets is noted.
