Well Known Local Man Buckingham Dies At 78
Frederick barber and former hotel shop pioneer Mr. Buckingham died after a short illness at Frederick Memorial Hospital at 23 o clock. He lived at 812 North Market Street and was born in Carroll County. He opened the second beauty shop in Frederick and ran a long career in barbering, retiring in May 1953. He is survived by two daughters, a brother Irvin Buckingham, two sisters, and several grandchildren. The body lies at East Patrick Street funeral home with services Thursday at 10 AM. Interment in Pipe Creek cemetery.

In Baltimore during the New Year's Weekend six intoxicated individuals were offered free paddy wagon rides to curb drunken driving. Police noted many calls were pranks or for barn service and most people chose a sober ride instead. the wagon was used six times as a last resort to aid the incapacitated.
