Mob Threatens Race War After Rail Yard Shooting
A mob of about 100 men and boys formed in Springfield Ohio after brakeman M M Davis was shot by two Black men Preston Ladd and Exe Ward Dean. Ladd was hospitalized and Dean moved to Dayton. The mob aimed to burn the Jungle neighborhood of colored residents until militia arrived to restore order.
