Roosevelt Speaks at Carnegie Hall in Jesuit Anniversary
President Roosevelt was the chief speaker at a mass meeting in Carnegie Hall honoring John Wesley the founder of Methodism. The hall was crowded and hundreds could not enter as the New York Twentyeth Century Thank Offering fund supported by Methodists across the country neared 26 million dollars. Roosevelt recalled his North Creek journey after learning of McKinley's death and Cronin, the Adirondack driver, received a seat beside the president on the platform. A note of reverence filled the event as Bowne and bishops spoke of Wesley and Methodism’s reach across classes. In Summit New Jersey a 7? year old boy Jack Hanley was found dead in a field near New Providence township with signs suggesting assault and possible plage. Police investigate.
