Lancaster Pa Feb 28 after rising to a record high and then falling the Susquehanna flood fears ease but the big gorge near Washington borough and Turkey Hill remains dangerous. Ice runs eight hundred feet long with channels on sides while railroad tracks recover water and ice. Water begins to fall late yesterday as ice piles near the channel and through Pittsburgh the Allegheny river remains treacherous with flood risk and ruined boat houses.

Washington Feb 28 The sub committee of senate privileges and elections plans severe censure for Senators Tillman and McLaurin of South Carolina for their conduct. Republicans favor restraint, while Democrats push harsher language as the vote looms in the senate. The panel hopes to avoid suspension and place the reprimand with the president of the senate to administer.
