The Catoctin High School pool proposal, at 3 159 square feet and about 112000 dollars, would be larger and cheaper than the YMCA pool under construction on North Market Street. Dr Warren R Evans notes the YMCA four lane pool includes heated decks and a tiled floor, features not in the school plan. Merrill E Groelle says the YMCA pool is part of the building contract. seating would accommodate 150, with 75 to 100 swimmers, plus locker and dressing areas and restrooms.
