Four Perish In Cabin Fire Near Petersburg
Four persons died when a double cabin at Blue Tartane tourist camp on U S Route 1 four miles south of Petersburg burned early today. Police said two couples, identified partially from a camp register, were burned beyond recognition and may have suffocated. The fire began about 6 30 a m and the cause was undetermined. One victim was tentatively named Durwood Herring of Omaha Nebraska. The register showed an address reading Boxin Farmington W Va. police could not confirm if it was his or the second couple’s address. The men said they were seamen awaiting ship assignment at Richmond.
