The Army will revise NCO titles and insignia effective Sept. 1. It ends dual insignia for E-3 to E-7 and removes specialists E-8 and E-9, which have not existed since 1958. New insignia include sergeant major, chief master sergeant, and a lance corporal stripe for E-2 replacements, aiming for clearer grade identification.
