Remains To Be Seen If People Can Be Bought By $20 Tax Cut
A 1950s political analysis argues a $20 tax cut could sway about 33 million voters with incomes under $5,000 annually, while 800,000 taxpayers earning over $25,000 would bear heavier taxes. It warns such wealth redistribution could destroy incentives, empower socialism and threaten private enterprise, unions, and fiscal balance, questioning Democratic Party tactics ahead of 1956 elections.
