Frederick county outlines secondary road plans
Frederick county officials plus County Engineer Roger H. Willard met with the State Roads Commission in Baltimore to review proposed improvements to the secondary road system. The plan calls for Maryland 71 now Maryland 11M to be under contract by May 1 from Maryland 26 at Ceresville to Woodsboro, with a 150-foot right of way and an ultimate four-lane by pass around Walkersville and Woodsboro. The meeting reviewed primary road work in the county and discussed by passes and 1957 contracts on routes including U.S. 340 to Baughman Lane and the Poto mac river bridge at Brunswick to Rosemont. The group discussed timing for the Detrick by-pass and Yellow Springs road realignment to reduce sharp curves.
