County to eliminate D grade and raise graduation credits

The county will stop awarding D grades starting in August and replace them with As or Bs. Students scoring below 70 will be marked as failing. Freshmen must earn 28 credits, up from 24, and complete an extra math credit. The changes aim to toughen the curriculum ahead of state tests.

Maryland Senate panel backs teacher student sex bill

Maryland House approves deer and bear management bills

Maryland lawmakers moved two wildlife bills through the House on Friday. The deer measure extends hunting season from 13 to 21 days and allows one Sunday hunt per year, a practice outlawed since colonial times. Maryland water fee plan targets high users in new bill

The Glendening administration proposed a measure to charge a permit fee for users of more than 10 000 gallons daily with wells and ponds counted as water sources.
