Liner Safety Under Armed Conflict Contemplated

Berlin signals may extend assurances that unarmed passenger ships will not be attacked without warning but only if liners carry no armament. German government may call armed defense by submarines offensive and seek talks with the United States on what constitutes defensive armament. Trains Crash Near Milford Kills Ten Injures Dozens

A rear end collision on the New Haven railroad near Milford Conn leaves ten dead and about seventy five injured with sixteen possibly dying later. The Con necticut River Special No 79 and a Boston local were involved, forcing a freight train on a parallel track and sending cars into a riverbank embankment. Yale men among the injured were taken to hospitals. some victims were treated at Laurelton hall.
