Three Children Die In East Baltimore House Fire
A one alarm blaze gutted a second floor apartment in East Baltimore killing Patricia Green age 3 Ernestine 2 and Frankie 1 who died at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Their parents were away and an aunt and another child escaped by jumping from a second floor window. Fire officials have not yet determined the cause.

J Harold Hooper announces the appointment of Francis Raymond Smith to program director of the Frederick County YMCA effective April 1. Smith, 30, formerly of Long Branch New Jersey, studied at Springfield College and earned a BA in 1958 and an education master's in 1959. He previously led the Young Adult Program at the YMCA of Greater Hartford and directed the Wethersfield Branch. He will relocate to Frederick with his wife Linda and 11 month old son Douglas. Hooper says more staff will be added before the spring opening of the new YMCA building.
