Last Frederick Thurmont trolley ride ends a bygone era
A 1954 final run on the Frederick to Thurmont trolley marked the end of a once extensive Potomac Edison system. The piece recounts community reliance on trolleys, popular loops to Pen Mar Park and Braddock Heights, and the shift to cars and buses as lines closed. It notes the region’s rail history, including multiple companies and the 1909 electrification milestone.
