Serbs Withdraw Guns Near Sarajevo To Avoid NATO Strikes

After 22 months of shelling Bosnian Serbs pulled back most artillery around Sarajevo to avert NATO air strikes. By nightfall at least 23 gun sites were abandoned, UN troops took control of nine more, with NATO reserving the right to strike if weapons reappear.

Sugarloaf Mountain draws cabin fever relief seekers

On a warm Sunday Sugarloaf Mountain in Frederick County drew crowds escaping confinement. Eighth grader Suzanne Newman and Dale Harvey joined hikers amid muddy trails. Families from Gaithersburg and Hamilton visited with children while noting the unseasonable warmth and turning mud. Car Hits House on Hillcrest Drive. No Serious Injuries

Frederick City police report a 1987 Buick driven by Allan M Creed 85 failed to stop at Hillcrest and McCain and swerved to avoid another car. The car struck 1300 Hillcrest Drive damaging the front and a window but caused no serious injuries. Creed was treated and released from Frederick Memorial Hospital. Herbert and Barbara Mullican occupants were unhurt.
