Baseball players push for free agency changes and higher minimum
New York AP. Players will propose changes in free agency and a higher minimum salary as talks resume on Thursday. The MLPA will respond to management’s Tuesday items, including a seven game league championship series proposal and expansion plans for up to six new teams. Belanger cautions no quick agreement on those issues, while the union seeks to end the free agent re-entry draft and raise the starting minimum from 40,000. Expansion could add two to six U.S. or Canadian cities, with details still to be worked out.
