Moths Can Damage Rugs Even In Winter

Moths can damage wool rugs and carpets in heated homes during winter. Entomologist T L Bissell of the University of Maryland advises thorough cleaning and right spraying to protect fibers. Regular vacuuming, rotating rugs, and cleaning baseboards help remove insects and eggs. Use a 5 percent DDT solution on rugs every 12 to 18 months, spray under furniture and radiators, and treat rug edges. If unsure, hire a pest control or carpet cleaning firm with experience.
