Legislators urged to increase funding for community colleges
Frederick Community College and other state officials urged the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee to raise the state per full-time student funding for two-year colleges from 800 to 880. FCC would gain about 59,050 to reach just over 1 million in state support next year amid concerns over inflation, tuition hikes, and uneven state control. Senators questioned large tuition hikes and the long term demand, suggesting consolidation may be needed if enrollment declines continue.
