Radium Search Begins With USGS Bulletin
The United States Geological Survey will issue a bulletin on radium bearing minerals and where to find them. An expert has studied over 8000 minerals to identify conditions that yield radium and will name localities, with emphasis on the West and especially Colorado and the Black Hills. Two simple tests for uranium or radium will be described, one using a radio responsive diamond and the other a photographic plate procedure.

Maryland voters face literacy and property options in amendme
A Maryland legislative debate centers on the Poe and Bryan amendments to election law. The Poe proposal would empower election officials to reject voters who cannot satisfactorily interpret constitutional clauses, while the Bryan plan ties voting eligibility to literacy or tax requirements. The governor’s stance remains indecisive per reports, with neither plan needing his explicit approval to carry. A related election-law tweak proposes stricter ballot counting and error handling in section 66, including rules on deceitful folds and overlong ballots.
