Bartlett backs six crime bills in House vote

Rep. Roscoe Bartlett supported all six crime related measures passing the House this week. The Victim Restitution Act would require criminals to pay restitution to victims, with amounts offset by civil suit awards. He backed the Effective Death Penalty Act to streamline appeals and the Law Enforcement Block Grant Act to shift funds to states and localities for crime fighting. He also approved the Criminal Alien Deportation Act, the Violent Criminal Incarceration Act, and the Exclusionary Rule Reform Act to curb defenses over minor errors in warrants. Bartlett argued the bills move to toughen crime policy and focus on victims over criminals.
